The Ship Inn
The opening of The Ship Inn Restaurant by its proprietor Adrian Eyles is the latest phase in an ongoing refurbishment programme of this character building which dates back to the 17th century. The Ship Inn is personally managed by Adrian, who has an established reputation for Fine Cuisine in the Forest of Dean from his previous restaurants, "Carriages" and "The Dog & Muffler".
The menu at The Ship Inn is Mediterranean with an Italian focus and offers a varied selection of light meals and salads through to pasta and char-grilled dishes using quality fresh ingredients. All pizzas are prepared in-house using freshly made dough and cooked on stone to create an authentic Italian taste and thin crust texture. Daily specials are also available, as are Sunday Roasts ... with a difference.
Newnham-on-Severn
The Ship Inn is situated in the High Street of the picturesque village of Newnham-on-Severn on the west bank of the river. Once well-known as a port, today the village is regarded as one of the favourable observation points for the Severn Bore. History of the village dates back to the Middle Ages and despite some changes the High Street has retained its character throughout the years. Today's well tended appearance continues to be enhanced by the many trees and massed daffodils in spring followed by floral displays during the summer months. Newnham-on-Severn's enviable location in the Forest of Dean makes it ideal for visiting the many surrounding areas of outstanding natural beauty.
